Aslina Black Lives Matter 3 Pack
Aslina Sauvignon Blanc 2019
The Aslina Sauvignon Blanc bears clear influences from Ntsiki’s time in Bordeaux, offering a much greater degree of texture and depth than most bottles coming from New Zealand or Sancerre (indeed, like Bordeaux, there is actually a small amount of Semillon blended in). There is a warm kiss of citrus fruit, but with a base of complex baking and floral aromas from extended time on the lees. 750 cases produced
Aslina Chardonnay 2018
The Aslina Chardonnay is maybe my favourite wine in the lineup, with the contrasting richness and textural cut reminiscent of a great bourgogne blanc, yet with a purity of fruit that is totally South African, with just ripe orange and yellow apple wafting out of the glass. There is a touch of new oak, but it is very subtle and well integrated, accenting the fruit rather than masking it. The fruit comes from both Stellenbosch, a warmer climate known for Bordeaux varieties, and Elgin, a cool coastal region. The regions are married beautifully here in a wine that shows both sunny flamboyance and cool restraint. Just 500 cases produced.
Aslina Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
The Aslina Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is coming from 100% Stellenbosch fruit and once again marries old and new world sensibilities very well. Lots of dark fruited aromas are complicated by touches of graphite, baking spices, and cocoa powder. There is a healthy handful of Petit Verdot in the wine giving it a more brooding disposition and strong shoulders, keeping it from ever feeling blousy or overly rich. A perfect wine to open for either the Bordeaux or Napa lover. Just 250 cases produced.
