Botanica Mary Delany Pinot Noir 2017
The 2017 The Mary Delany Collection Pinot Noir is fully de-stemmed and whole-berry-fermented, and raised for nine months in 300-liter barrels with 10% new oak. It has a simple but effective bouquet of cranberry and raspberry scents and just a touch of sous-bois tucked in underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit and nicely judged acidity, although I would be seeking a little more precision and tension toward the grippy finish. Not bad overall, however.
