"Berg Rottland is known as one of, if not the most important vineyard in the Rudesheim, having been planted with wine grapes since the 11th century. The 1989 was one of the best vintages for sweeter wines in Germany in the 20th century, with outbreaks of botrytis giving wines a fabulous concentration and capacity for aging. This Spatlese is fully mature and ready for drinking, with honeyed fruit and lush texture that is buoyed by a softened, satiny, acidity. Ehrhard’s Spatleses tend to be on the drier side of the category, sitting somewhere between most producer’s Kabinett and Spatlese, so this wine is decidedly off dry. Delicious!" Lewis Kopman
