"The reputation of the Château de Fieuzal is well established and the estate has been one of the jewels of the Pessac-Léognan appellation for several decades now. It was also established as a grand cru during the classification of Graves wines. This ancient cru has its origins in the 16th century; it then belonged to the Gardères family, before entering the purse of the Fieuzal family in the following century. The Fieuzals kept the estate until 1851, when the last descendant of the name died. Today, the 75 hectare vineyard is owned by an Irish couple (since 2001), Brenda and Lochlann Quinn, both passionate about French wines. Stephen Carrier (formerly at Lynch-Bages) has been running the business since 2007. Under the leadership of the new owners, talented winegrower and thanks to the investments made in the cellars, this estate has regained all its excellence, both for the whites and the reds." -Auction notes
