"Dry Creek Valley is widely recognized as an exceptional appellation for Zinfandel. The region has red volcanic soils and a coastal inland valley climate with lightly foggy mornings and hot, breezy days - ideal growing conditions for Zinfandel. The goal for the Simi Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel was to produce a wine with pure varietal character, generous fruit, and soft ripe tannins. To retain as much fruit as possible, the wine was partially barrel fermented in both new and used American oak and then bottled after eight and a half months of barrel aging. The Simi 1998 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel exhibits forward fruit in the mouth, with freshness and versatility that makes it the perfect match to a wide variety of foods." -Winemaker's notes
