"Taurasi is clearly the finest expression of the Aglianico grape in Campania, and any discussion of this wine has to begin with Mastroberardino. Established in 1878, this was the producer that for decades represented Campanian wine throughout the world, and it was their Taurasi that brought much needed attention to the region’s wine industry. Antonio Mastroberardino, who oversaw a great deal of replanting and other work in local vineyards starting in the late 1940s, produced various examples of Taurasi – entry level as well as a riserva that was aged for a longer amount of time in wood – that offered the balance, intensity and structure to age gracefully for several decades. His 1968 riserva became the stuff of legends, and today, some 50 years later, this wine – and even a few older vintages – are still showing well." -Forbes Magazine 02/2018
