Remembering Jean Luc Le Dû
Yesterday, we raised a glass to Jean Luc Le Du for his birthday. Today, we celebrate his memory with this video.
On January 4th, 2018, the wine community of New York City defied the bomb cyclone to convene at City Winery NYC to honor the life and career of a New York original: a titan of wine appreciation and education, a dedicated philanthropist, and a dear friend, mentor, and family member to a breathtaking number of people around the globe who loved him.
Though Jean Luc is gone, his legacy thrives in the forms of the vivid memories and powerful connections he developed with his infectious personality, in the foundation he helped build to aid the disabled community in realizing their dreams through Wheeling Forward and Wine On Wheels, in the legacy he left at Restaurant Daniel, David Bouley, and the greater restauranting scene of New York, and in his beloved Le Du’s Wines and the countless throngs of employees, wine professionals, and wine lovers who passed under his wing throughout his 12 years at the shop. The impression he left on the world and on our hearts cannot be measured.
We love you Jean Luc. Cheers to you.
