"Always one of my favorites in Daumen’s lineup, the 2021 Les Hauts-Lieux is more somber and introverted than expected, revealing aromas of blue fruits, pepper, earth and smoke. It’s medium to full-bodied, dense and concentrated on the palate, with a fleshy core of fruit, structured tannins and a long, deep, chocolate-inflected finish. The proportion of Mourvèdre (20%) is particularly noticeable in this vintage, lending the wine a more earthy, structured profile than usual, with chalky dry extracts. This is quite a serious Châteauneuf-du-Pape."- YC 10/2024
