"Domaine de Chassorney was established by pioneering natural winemaker Frédéric Cossard in 1996. Centered around leased and owned holdings near his cellar in Saint-Romain, Cossard became and continues to be one of the leading lights of natural winemaking and viticulture in the region.

As Fred approaches retirement age without any interested heirs, he formed a close partnership with local winemaker and friend Aurélien Verdet in 2019, with the idea that he would eventually transfer the domaine to Aurélien after a transition period of a few years. Aurélien hails from the nearby hamlet of Arcenant in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, and also is son of another leader in organic Burgundian viticulture, Alain Verdet. He has also been running his family’s domaine for some time. All of these factors made him a natural fit to take the reins from Fred."- Supplier notes
