Chapuis & Chapuis
Top Line:
Brash, savage wines with wild fruit flavors contained in a sleek, shiny shell.
Background:
The winery was founded in 2009 by the brothers Chapuis. Romain traveled the world (Lebanon, New Zealand, Australia) as a “flying winemaker” while Jean-Guillaume stayed in Burgundy managing the family vines.
JT’s Take:
I am extremely intrigued by this estate. The Chapuis & Chapuis project is specifically low intervention so classical Burgundy this is not but they are incredibly soulful. They have stuffing. They are visceral. There is a feral complexity which feels like old-school Nuits St. Georges.
