Timothy's Thanksgiving Table

Weingut Alexander Zahel Orange-traube 2022
Orange-traube is not an Orange wine, it is a grape variety that has a slight orange hue and aroma of orange blossom. The wines indeed offer ripe and tropical citrus fruits, and what's interesting, a bit of orange flavor. Of all the citrus flavors we find in wines, its almost never orange, except here. It has qualities reminiscent of Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Sylvaner. It also has an acidity that cuts through the rich food of a Thanksgiving dinner table, offering refreshment and a cleansed palate.

Maison Advinam L'Allumee NV
This is an old favorite and one that I can share with my younger brother. You see, he is into the 'natural' wines. And as a good wine merchant, I go to great lengths to make sure that the natural wines he does enjoy are sound, without fault, and full flavored. This wine checks all the boxes. This comes from the Bordeaux region and blends red and white grapes into a co-ferment. The flavor is that of Bordeaux, albeit lighter, fresher, and with more floral tones throughout. The texture of the wine is light and velvety. To summarize, this wine is like if a Bordeaux had an illegitimate love child with a Beaujolais and it grew up to be a savant artist. Enjoy with a slight chill with the younger crowd at your Thanksgiving.

Easton Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
This will be the wine I'm looking forward to most on the table. Bill Easton is one of the Godfather's of Southern California wine and as such, he is able to hold his wines back in the cellar until he believes they are ready to drink. This 2014 has aged for 10 years to final hit its perfect window for enjoyment. It will remain in this fully realized place for a few years to come, but its great to drink right now as the palate's tannins have softened giving way to a complex flavor profile. Blackberry, cassis, cigar humidor, campfire, and a touch of tapenade.
